Rivers United announce quarter-final opponents today



Rivers United, the only surviving Nigerian club in the CAF inter-club competition, will find out their quarter-final opponents today when the Confederation Cup last eight draw will be held in Cairo, Egypt.

Rivers United defeated Ghana's Dreams FC 2-1 in Uyo two weeks ago to book their place in the quarter-finals of Group A of the Championship behind the Ghanaians.

The remaining teams in the championship are USM Algiers (Algeria), Zamalek (Egypt), Dreams FC (Ghana), RS Belkan (Morocco), Modern Future (Egypt), Abu Salem (Libya), Rivers United (Nigeria), Stade Marien (Mari).

According to CAF, the four group winners will be seeded in the draw, but the second place will be unseeded.

“The combination of seeded and unseeded teams will result in a draw, with the seeded team hosting the second leg. Teams from the same group cannot be drawn, but teams from the same association can be drawn,” CAF said. Stated.

The seeded teams are Algeria's USM Algiers, Zamalek (Egypt), Ghana's Dreams FC, and RS Belkan (Morocco). Modern Future of Egypt, Libya's Abu Salim, Rivers United and Mali's Stade Marien will make up the unseeded teams.
