EPL: 'We have a contract' - Amorim talks about replacing Klopp at Liverpool

“It was a mistake, I'm sorry” – Ruben Amorim apologizes for failed transfer to EPL club

Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim has apologized to the club and fans for traveling to London to meet West Ham.

Amorim flew to London in the summer to negotiate with West Ham over a move to the Premier League.

He is also said to have been on Liverpool's wishlist before Feyenoord manager Arne Slott took over in a deal worth around £9.4 million.

When asked about the London visit, the Portuguese player told reporters: “That was a mistake. The timing was completely wrong.

“I always ask my players to be respectful…and I didn't do that – even though I told the club earlier.

“I am truly sorry and would like to apologize to the fans, club and players.”
