Hardship: Nigerians struggling to put food on the table – Northern elders speak to Tinubu

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has accused President Bola Tinubu's administration of showing a lack of empathy for the sufferings being experienced by Nigerians.

Mr. Abdul Aziz Suleiman, Director and Spokesperson of NEF's Director of Public Affairs and Advocacy, lamented that Nigerians cannot feed themselves, yet those in power live in denial and self-isolation.

Mr. Suleiman noted that the cost of living, especially food prices, has been steadily rising, making hunger and malnutrition widespread.

Suleiman's statement reads in part:

“While millions of Nigerians struggle to put food on the table and make ends meet, those in power seem to live in isolation or denial. This indifference is deeply worrying.

“The impact of this unchecked rise in inflation is devastating for ordinary Nigerians. As the prices of essential items such as rice, beans and edible oil continue to soar, households are struggling to afford basic necessities. is becoming increasingly difficult.

“Moreover, the impact of inflation extends beyond the realm of food prices. Small businesses are struggling to survive as raw material and transportation costs continue to rise.”
