Easter: LASTMA for deploying police officers, materials for traffic management
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has announced that the agency will deploy personnel and materials during the Easter celebrations to manage road accidents in the state.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare Oki, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos.
“Our plan for the holiday is to ensure that Lagosians, especially motorists, can get from point A to point B seamlessly.
“And primarily, we plan to commit men and materials to accomplish this great objective. Our soldiers will be deployed to every corner of the state, and materiel will be deployed as well.
“We have tow trucks stationed at major routes and transfer points so that they are always available in the event of a problem such as a breakdown or the need to manage a traffic accident.We also have tow trucks for small vehicles and passenger cars. “We plan to deploy it,” he said. .
The LASTMA chief said the authority will deploy equipment at strategic locations to redirect and manage traffic as needed.
“These equipment, our cones, traffic barriers, safety barriers etc. will be in place especially tomorrow (during the holidays starting Friday) to enable seamless movement of Lagosians within the state,” he said. said.
Mr. Bakare Oki said the organization is aware of the locations in Lagos State where large gatherings are taking place during the festive season and is constantly deploying its personnel as and when the need arises at various locations. He pointed out that he was managing.
He appealed to the public to be aware that major road construction is underway in various parts of the state, adding that authorities are prioritizing all these areas.
He also pointed out that this is to alleviate or manage traffic challenges that affect drivers' travel times.
“Our troops will be deployed every other day from Friday and Saturday to Monday, as well as preparations for the end of Ramadan celebrations for Muslim believers, which are just two weeks away,” he said. Ta.
He advised the motoring public to obey all traffic rules and regulations as well as traffic police officers, especially LASTMA officers on the road.
“Basically, we are working towards improving travel times for Lagosians.
“Also, when going out to have fun as a result of celebrations, you should always avoid driving when drinking alcohol. Safety is always important and paramount,” he said.
