Average price of cooking gas increases by 8.70% annually – NBS


The average price of 5 kg of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), also known as cooking gas, increased by 8.70 percent from N4,565.56 in December 2022 to N4,962.87 in December 2023.

NBS National Bureau of Statistics revealed this in its latest LPG Price Watch for December 2023.

According to the NBS, in a state-wise analysis, Adamawa, Jigawa and Ogun states recorded the highest prices. In contrast, southeastern states such as Imo and Ebonyi states recorded the lowest prices.

In terms of geopolitical zones, the Northeast recorded the highest average retail price of LNG (cooking gas) 5kg cylinder refill at N5,256.61.

This was followed by the North West with a reported price of N5,144.50 while the South East recorded the lowest retail price at N4,155.59.
