WAEC confirms Governor Uzodimma results/certificate in Imo governorship dispute

WAEC confirms results/certificate of Governor Uzodimma in IMO governorship race

The declaration of result and a certificate belonging to Governor Hope Uzodimma were on Thursday, March 28, certified by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) at the Abuja-based gubernatorial election petition tribunal.

This was after the examining body received a court summons to produce and produce the documents on behalf of Governor Uzodimma, following a legal action brought by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the last IMO gubernatorial election, Samuel Anyanwu, challenging Uzodimma's victory. They contest the election on the grounds of non-qualification and also allege, among others, that Uzodimma forged his WAEC certificate.

The documents were presented to the court by the Head of WAEC Headquarters Administration, Mr. Omifenwa Tajudeen Tunbosu.

The first of the two documents produced by Tunbosu was a certified copy (CTC) of the West African Examinations Council General Certificate of Education of Uzodimma Goodhope Odidika, certificate No. SG 904497 of June 1982.

The second was a confirmation of the CTC result statement of Uzodimma Goodhope Odidika dated December 18, 2014, previously forwarded by WAEC to the office of the Senate President and delivered on January 7, 2015.

Tunbosu also testified before the court that Uzodimma is the owner of the WAEC certificate and confirmed that it is authentic and genuine.

The documents were later produced and admitted as evidence by the court headed by Justice Oluyemi Akintan-Osadebay.
