Urgent investigation into challenges facing Nigerians – Group to President Tinubu
Osun leader TOM has appealed to the Federal Government led by President Bola Tinubu to urgently look into the myriad challenges facing Nigeria.
The Executive Director of TOM, Professor Wasiu Oyedokun Ali, who made the appeal in the March edition of the State of the Nation Address in Osogbo on Thursday, said the Ilesa-Ibadan Expressway, food inflation, electricity and power supply are among the myriad issues. Oyedokun Ali, who lives along the Ilesa-Ibadan Expressway and appealed for urgent restoration of the road, lamented that the road has become a death trap.
He called on President Tinubu to intensify efforts to stem the tide of food inflation in the country, while adding that soaring food prices are putting immense pressure on Nigerians, and that he is doing everything possible to stem the tide of inflation. He urged them to take measures.
“On behalf of the people of Osun State and Nigerians, we would like to appeal to the Federal Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to:
“We appeal to the FG to give urgent attention to the complete rehabilitation of the Ibadan-Ilesa Expressway so that it does not fall into a death trap.
“We also appeal to the Federal Government to intensify efforts to stem the tide of food inflation in the country. Nigerians are under immense pressure due to rising food prices and the FG is committed to stemming the tide of inflation.” All measures must be taken to achieve this goal.
“Knowing how the cost of fuel controls the cost of other goods, we are committed to FG because local production is the only solution to affordable fuel. We urge the government to expedite measures against domestic refineries.”
The group also called for the removal of Power Minister Bayo Adelabu, citing the ministry's inability to effectively manage the power sector.
While the group maintained that the measure was of national urgency, it lamented that the country's electricity situation is worsening, making life difficult for average Nigerians.
“We implore President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider the appointment of Bayo Adelabu as Minister of Power as a matter of national urgency.The power situation is deteriorating across the country and the average Life for Nigerians has become difficult.
“The Minister has failed to manage the power sector effectively and has shown himself unable to provide the necessary leadership to the power sector and will be removed or transferred to another ministry that suits his abilities. It should be.”
