Unity remains a panacea for overcoming challenges and achieving goals – Dogara, former speaker
Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has pitched unity as a panacea for Nigeria to overcome all challenges and achieve its goal of becoming a great nation.
Mr Dogara made this statement on Saturday at the celebration of the 2024 Tarok Cultural Annual Festival in Langtang, Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau.
The former Speaker said a united Nigeria would be an indomitable nation and anything the country set its sights on would be achievable.
According to him, the country's diversity was a source of strength, not weakness, as many mistakenly believe.
“God Himself is the God of diversity. You see how diverse we are. If you look at an ecosystem, the animals that live there are all different species and they live in a symbiotic relationship.
“Our diversity should not be a source of weakness. If we agree to come together, it should be a source of strength,” he said.
The former Speaker further stated that the country will overcome all challenges if Nigerians are determined to work together, build bridges and reach out to each other.
He urged the Tarok people and their guests to agree to become ambassadors of peace and start by working for peace and unity in the Tarok land and extending it to the Plateau and Nigeria.
