EPL: Neville names only team to challenge for Man City title

Transfer: Gary Neville reveals the only player who forced Alex Ferguson to break the rules

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has revealed that the club's legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson broke transfer rules for a player named Louis Saha.

Ferguson never consulted his players about signing new players during his time at Old Trafford. However, he only broke it once after watching Saha play after an FA Cup match at Fulham in 2001.

Saha tormented Ferguson's Man Utd so much that the Scot asked defender Neville and others whether he should sign the Frenchman.

Recalling the incident on Sky Sports, Neville said: “But after we played against Fulham once in the FA Cup, he[Ferguson]actually asked us, the defenders, if we would sign Louis Saha. “We all immediately said yes. Told.

“I remember the season he played up front with Waza (Wayne Rooney) in 2006 and it was unbelievable. They were great together. Louis was a great, great player,” Neville said. added. “He gave me absolute nightmares when I played against him when he was playing for Fulham.”

Saha played 124 games in all competitions for Man United, scoring 42 goals and providing 17 assists.
