Leicester Women sacking manager Willie Kirk following investigation into his alleged relationship with a club player

Leicester City have sacked their manager Willie Kirk after carrying out an investigation into his alleged relationship with a female player at the club.

Earlier this month, Kirk was suspended while the club investigated the allegation made against the 45-year-old Scot.

He missed both league defeats to Tottenham and Brighton, and was also absent in the Foxes' 2-0 victory over Liverpool which secured them a place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Kirk was fired following the investigation, ending his two-year stay at the club.

He joined Leicester in July 2022 as director of football, before replacing Lydia Bedford on the bench four months later.

He leaves Leicester with the team in ninth place in the Women's Super League (WSL), with 16 points from 17 matches.

Jennifer Foster and Stephen Kirby have been placed in temporary charge of the team while the club searches for a permanent successor to Kirk.
