Kiana LG Council pledges to prosecute Nasarawa farmer killers
The Keana Local Government Council of Nasarawa State has vowed to prosecute those responsible for killing an unspecified number of farmers in the area.
The council aims to use the measure as a deterrent to other crimes locally.
Council President Sanusi Abdul Giza made this commitment during an emergency meeting with security officials, traditional rulers and other key stakeholders, including representatives of all ethnic groups in the Kadalko Emirate. did.
The meeting, held at the Osokadarco Palace, addressed recent attacks on farmers in the fields.
President Giza condemned the killing as unfortunate, unacceptable and intolerable, and said his administration would spare no effort to ensure the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
The LG boss stressed the importance of addressing the security challenges facing the region.
Mr Giza sympathized with the affected families but warned residents not to take the law into their own hands and urged them to allow the government to deal with the situation.
He said all ethnic groups in the region needed to live in peace and avoid being manipulated by troublemakers seeking to incite violence.
“All ethnic groups in the region must live in peace with each other and avoid mischief makers who take the opportunity to cause mayhem.
“The local government is working with security agencies to come up with ways to flush out bad elements in the area,” the city council chief said.
