Goons attack Anambra LG secretariat and burn down police station

On Thursday, about 30 hoodlums torched parts of the Anaocha local government headquarters in Neni, Anambra State.

The hoodlums, who were said to be heavily armed, also set fire to Neni police station.

It is gathered that the attack occurred between 3am and 4am on Thursday.

According to local sources, the thugs were shouting, “The DPO must go.'' He ended up overstaying. He has been in Anaocha for over 15 years. ”

Sources said the hoodlums claimed that Anaocha police station was another SARS station and that many dastardly things were happening there.

The National Army Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident.

He said the thugs attacked the police station using improvised explosive devices, but did not seize any weapons or abduct any police officers.

“The thieves were successfully repulsed by the superior firepower of police personnel who engaged them and forced them to flee,” he said.

“Police have launched an operation in the area to find the perpetrators of the attack. We assure you that the police will take every step to ensure the masterminds of the attack are arrested.”
