Economic hardship: Senator Umar urges Nigerians to remain firm
The senator representing Kwara North, Sadiq Umar, has appealed to Nigerians to remain resolute in the face of ongoing economic challenges.
Responding to questions from reporters in Ilorin over the weekend, the lawmaker said he was aware that the Federal Government, led by President Bola Tinubu, was exploring all measures to overcome the reality.
According to him, Nigerians can either face it now and smile later, or be stuck in the same fake scenarios that have never yielded any significant benefits.
I said, “There's no pain. There's no pain.” There is no benefit,” the lawmaker said, clarifying that the president and the entire National Assembly are doing their best to support him in rebuilding the national economy.
He said he shared the plight of Nigerians' experiences with the removal of fuel subsidy, foreign exchange palaver and electricity tariff hike policies that continue to make the lives of the people insecure.
But Sadiq justified the recent liberalization of the electricity sector as “the only way out” and said: “The situation is alarming as even the existing electricity distribution companies are unable to generate 30 per cent of the required supply.” he added.
He lamented that Nigerians are now trekking long distances without getting into a car to reach their destinations, adding: “It's not that we don't know or don't see it. Their plight is a sign of the storm. “We're focused on our determination to get through this and win, and then we'll get our rights.” position”.
However, Mr. Sadiku hinted that only by rallying support for the Kwara North Governorship in 2027 can true harmony be brought to the state.
“We are working for harmony in Kwara State. We cannot do it alone. That is why we are working for other zones to ensure that we have equal and harmonious representation, as we have never had since our inception. We ask for their understanding and support,” he said. He said.
The lawmaker commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq for overcoming the barriers of progressive governance across all sectors in Kwara State.
