Bandits attack community in Niger state after military withdrawal

Allawa community in Shiroro local government area of ​​Niger State was invaded by bandits who stole food, three days after the military withdrew from the community.

Recall that it was reported that some residents of the community fled after the soldiers withdrew following an ambush.

One of the residents, Mallam Yahuza Allawa, who confirmed the operation, told Daily Trust that the bandits entered Allawa and neighboring communities on Sunday morning and stole their food and other valuables, including goats and other domestic animals.

He also said that there has been a huge challenge at Central Primary School, Erena, where dozens of them have sought refuge, citing hunger and lack of sleeping space as the main problems.

Residents said that some men who returned home to get some food came running back to report that bandits had come with trucks in which they loaded their food and valuables on the morning of Sunday, April 28.

He said;

“Yes, it is confirmed that after we left our communities on Thursday, bandits came this morning and stole our food and other valuables, including goats. We were unable to take most of our belongings due to lack of vehicles. We had to walk from the communities to Erena.

“The bandits came with a truck in which they loaded our food and other valuables. They parked the truck by the river and used motorcycles to evacuate our food, goats and other valuables from the villages and loaded them onto the truck due to the nature of the road.

“We are calling on the federal and state governments to come to our aid. Life is very difficult for us, especially for our women and children. We need serious intervention.”
