Zamfara Governor Urges Residents to Pray for Prolonged Security Challenges
Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State on Sunday appealed to the people of the state to continue to seek the face of God through fervent prayer in the face of the protracted security situation.
The governor spoke through his chief of staff, Hon. Mukhtar Ruga at the opening ceremony of the 27th provincial Quran recitation competition.
Lawal was reacting on Friday to the abduction of more than 100 villagers by bandits in Mthunzi and three other communities in Maru local government area of the state.
He said the state government was aware of the mass abductions and security challenges in rural areas.
“The state government has recruited 4,200 Community Protection Guards (CPGs) to deal with vile acts in the state,” he added.
Recall that last Friday, a bandit kingpin popularly known as Damina attacked four villages under Dansadau district and kidnapped over 100 residents.
Local residents of the affected communities said the bandits attacked four villages on motorbikes because they did not pay harvest tax to the bandits.
