Wike eyes partnership with Mexico to develop FCT’s agricultural sector

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has expressed readiness to partner with Mexico to develop the agricultural sector in the federal capital, Abuja.

Wike said this when the Ambassador of Mexico to Nigeria, Alfredo Ortiz, visited his office in Abuja on Thursday.

“Mexico is a country known for its agriculture. Many Mexicans living in Nigeria own many agricultural companies.

“As the FCT, we have always wanted to partner with countries and companies that can contribute to the development of agriculture and, of course, tourism in the FCT,” he said.

The minister said Abuja has all the necessary ingredients to become a world tourist city in line with President Bola Tinubu’s eight-point policy.

He said the eight-point agenda was designed to grow the country’s economy, create jobs and wealth, reduce hunger and include women and youth as part of the governance process. explained.

He added that efforts are being made to ensure compliance with the rule of law, with the aim of attracting investors.

“Therefore, we as a city are ready to work with investors for the development of the agricultural sector. Look at Abuja, there is land available for agriculture.

“Residents of Abuja want agriculture to turn around the economy and provide jobs for our teeming youth population.

“The bureaucratic bottleneck no longer exists. Therefore, we are open to partnering with Mexican companies,” Wike said.

The minister said Mexico and Nigeria have much in common, adding that both countries have what it takes to overcome their problems and be at the forefront of economic development.

Mr. Ortiz assured Mr. Wike that Mexican investors would be willing to invest in the FCT’s agriculture sector if the environment was right.
