Wife of detained Binance executive cries out, calls for US intervention

As the conflict between the Nigerian government and Binance continues, Yuki Gambarian, the wife of detained Binance executive Tigran Gambarian, lamented that her husband continues to be detained in Nigeria.

He called on Senator Cory Booker and Representative Sarah Jacobs, who led a delegation to President Bola Tinubu at the State House on Wednesday, to intervene for Mr Gambariyan's release.

She disclosed this in a statement to DAILY POST on Saturday.

“For more than 30 days, the Nigerian government detained my husband without charge.

“Rather than negotiating with the company in a manner consistent with international norms, they then accused him of taking responsibility for his employer’s baseless actions.

“Simply put, my husband is being held on extortion charges. Since these MPs are traveling all over Nigeria, I urge Nigerians to release Tigran and directly investigate with Binance through appropriate channels. I urge them to continue,” she said.

Recall that in February, Tigran Gambariyan, a US national and Head of Financial Crimes Compliance at Binance, and his colleague Nadeem Anjarwala were detained by Nigerian authorities for financial crimes and other related crimes. .

However, Nadeem Anjalwala escaped from legal custody on March 22, 2024.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian government announced that it had begun a search for Mr. Anjarwala.

Gambariyan on Thursday dragged Nigeria's National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC to court over alleged violations of fundamental human rights.

This development comes days after the Nigerian government filed criminal charges against Binance, along with Anjarwala and Gambarian.
