Volunteer guards arrest three suspected armed robbers who terrorized road users in Benue
Members of the Benue State Community Volunteer Guard have arrested three suspected armed robbers terrorizing the Otukpo/Enugu federal freeway.
The arrested suspects had been stated to have arrange a roadblock alongside the Okpokwu/Ogbadibo freeway and robbed some road users.
An eyewitness said that Community Volunteer Guards personnel, who had been on patrol alongside Odoba Hill, acquired data and rapidly swung into motion, ensuing in the arrest of three of the suspected robbers on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
“On 29/11/2023, at around 8:45 am, a team from the state Community Volunteer Guard was on patrol along Odoba hill and received information that armed robbers were operating along the border between Okpokwu and Ogbadibo,” the witness narrated. .
“They (the suspects) had completed the operation, but the team chased them and successfully arrested three of them, handing them over to the Police.”
The governor’s Special Advisor for Security and Homeland Affairs Joseph Har, who confirmed the arrest on Thursday, applauded the bravery of the personnel.
“I can confirm the commendable work that the members of the BCVG are carrying out since the transfer and replacement of the former Zonal Commander. God will always expose them. I encourage them to keep the momentum going, especially during Christmas.”
