VC talks about how Nigeria national team’s lack of infrastructure can be addressed
4 out of 36 ACU graduates became CPAs before graduation.
The Vice Chancellor of Atiba University, Oyo Town, Professor Sunday Okeniyi, has suggested how the infrastructure gap in Nigerian universities can be bridged.
Speaking to journalists during the university’s first joint convocation, the VC urged universities to find ways to increase revenue and increase funding from management.
He also called on the government to support private universities, saying they are partners in development. Prof. Okeniyi disclosed that the university plans to hold a convocation for about 197 students, noting that five of the graduates will graduate in the first class.
Meanwhile, four out of the 36 graduates of the first batch of Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo town have passed the examination conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and become Associate Chartered Accountants (ACA).
The university’s VC, Professor Timothy Adebayo, disclosed this at the weekend during a media briefing to mark the university’s 15th convocation ceremony.
The VC said, “Four of the 36 first-year students in the Department of Accounting and Finance passed the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) examination. They started the ICAN program during their undergraduate studies and attended lectures on campus.” Mr. Adebayo also said that 1,598 students will graduate from both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
