The Registrar of the University of Ilorin, Mr. Mansoor Alfanrah, said male employees of the university would henceforth be given parental leave.

Alfanra, who disclosed this in Ilorin during a conversation with journalists, said it was in the recently revised terms of service of the university.

He added that the addition of parental leave is one of the most important improvements to working conditions at the university.

Additionally, the Registrar said the addition of parental leave is consistent with modern workplace practices that recognize the need for work-life balance.

“Parental leave is for working male employees whose spouse has given birth. The leave period shall be 14 working days.

“If a male police officer’s family adopts a child under the age of four months, the police officer will also be entitled to 14 working days of parental leave,” he said.

Mr. Alfanra emphasized the importance of university staff being familiar with the latest conditions and carefully complying with them.
