U-17 World Cup: France likely to be disqualified from the tournament

France faces disqualification from the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup, which is currently being held in Indonesia, after using an ineligible player.

The player in question is Montpellier’s Yanis Issoufou.

Issoufou represented Niger Republic in the qualifying round three months ago.

FIFA rules prohibit soccer players from playing for two teams in the same competition.

This means that some action may be taken against the French team.

According to Sportnewsafrica.com, FIFA was not informed of the 17-year-old’s apparent change of nationality.

Brule has qualified for the quarterfinals and will face Uzbekistan in the semifinals of the tournament on November 25th.

Burkina Faso are considering an appeal for the next round of the tournament after France destroyed their chances of qualifying.
