U-17 World Cup: 6 countries advance to quarterfinals

Morocco on Tuesday became the latest country to qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup quarter-finals in Indonesia.

The North African national team scored the equalizer in stoppage time and defeated Iran in the penalty shootout to advance to the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Iran’s Hessam Nafari missed a shot and Kasra Taheri’s second kick was saved by Moroccan goalkeeper Taha Benkhodir. This gave the Atlas Cubs a chance to win for Fuad Zahoani, who brilliantly drove home the penalty, sparking wild celebrations.

Morocco advanced to the final eight along with Spain, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, and Mali.

Morocco will play Mali in Surakarta on Saturday.
