U-17 Volleyball: Nigeria defeats Cameroon 3-1 to advance to semi-finals
Nigeria's Under-17 Women's Volleyball team defeated their Cameroonian rivals 3-1 on Monday in the second match of the 2023 Women's U17 Africa Nations Volleyball in Abuja.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the match was held at Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, where the Nigerian women's team was looking to avenge their previous loss to Egypt.
The Nigerian women lost the first set 19-25, but rallied in the next three sets to win.
They won the second set 25-20, the third 25-13 and the fourth 25-22.
The Cameroonian women also fought back, but were unable to capitalize on their chances.
After the match, Nigeria national team coach Sunday Akapsun said he could not celebrate yet as there were still games left.
“I congratulate the girls on a job well done. This is just a starting point for us.
“We will play them again in the semi-finals on Wednesday and I want to ensure that the girls repeat this victory,” he said.
