Two farmers jailed for assault and attempted extortion


A Jos Regional Court on Friday sentenced two farmers, Samaira Zanko, 24, and Umar Abubakar, 36, to a few months’ imprisonment every for assault and extortion.

Judge Shawomi Bokkos sentenced Zanko and Abubakar, who pleaded responsible to assault and attempted extortion.

However, Boccos gave them the choice of paying a superb of N10,000 every.

Earlier, Prosecuting Attorney Davitt on Monday instructed the court docket that the incident was reported by the complainant, Mallam Saudi Abdullahi, on the Jos workplace of the Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit on September 11.

Prosecutors mentioned the convicts beat the complainant after breaking into his dwelling.

He instructed the court docket that the convicts demanded three million naira from the complainant as “settlement money” and threatened to beat him if he didn’t comply.

Mr Davitt mentioned the crime violated the provisions of the Plateau Criminal Code. (South)
