Troops rescue victim and arrest kidnapping suspect in Taraba


Troops of the 6th Brigade Garrison of the Nigerian Army have arrested two suspected kidnappers in Taraba State.

They also rescued two kidnapped victims from the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN area in Jalingo, the state capital.

This was confirmed in a statement on Monday by Brigade Commander Brigadier General Frank Etim.

He said the operation was carried out in the early hours of Sunday after receiving reliable information about terrorist activities in the state’s major cities.

“Acting swiftly on information, the military raided the terrorists’ hideout, leading to the arrest of Awal Bobo (32) and Salau Abdul (33).

“The rescued victims, identified as Mrs. Fauziya Yusuf and Mr. Abdulsalam Abubakar, were safely released from their captors,” he said.

He said other suspects also managed to escape upon spotting the advancing troops, adding: “Efforts are underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing criminals.”
