Transfer: Romano gives latest update on Nigerian striker Umar's move to Chelsea


Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided further updates on the transfer of Nigerian striker Ibrahim Hafiz Umar to Chelsea.

DAILY POST reported on Monday that Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling spoke to Ibrahim via video call and played a key role in securing his trial at the club.

The 18-year-old has attracted interest from several top European clubs after scoring 10 goals in six games in the Viareggio Cup.

Ibrahim, a 6ft 2in target man, plays for Ojodu City in Lagos State and previously had trials with Bodo/Glimt in Norway.

Romano confirmed in a tweet on Tuesday that the player had decided to undergo a trial at Chelsea rather than join FK Bodø/Glimt, despite signing an inter-club deal worth €500,000. .

He said: “Hafiz will go on trial next week from Ojodu City Academy, so it's up to Chelsea now.”
