Transfer: Arsenal in talks to bring Nantes forward back from loan

Arsenal are in talks with FC Nantes to bring Marquinhos back from loan in the January transfer window to strengthen manager Mikel Arteta's attacking options in the second half of the season.

Marquinhos joined the French Ligue 1 club on a season-long loan in August last year, but has only started in one game so far.

According to L'Equipe, the 20-year-old forward has signed a long-term deal with the Gunners in the summer of 2022 and could return to the Premier League north London club early.

The Brazilian has made six appearances for Arsenal so far.

He scored a goal and an assist on his debut in the Europa League win against FC Zurich.

Meanwhile, manager Arteta praised Marquinhos after the match, saying, “He's a very popular player. He doesn't speak English, but he won the respect and admiration of everyone here just with his smile and his attitude.''
