A tragic road accident has reportedly claimed the lives of seventeen people in Niger State.
The only accident occurred at Takalafia village on the Yawuri Expressway in Magama Local Government of Niger State on Tuesday, November 22.
Confirming the accident, Federal Road Safety Corps spokesperson Bisi Kazeem said the single accident that occurred at around 3pm involved a total of 229 people, including 220 male adults, four adult females and five female children. masculine.
“Of this number, 206 male adults, one adult female and one male child were rescued with varying degrees of injuries, while a total of 17 male adults died in the accident,” revealed Kazeem.
He noted that the accident involving a red DAF commercial trailer with registration number SRZ446XA driven by Idi Doba was caused by a speed violation which resulted in loss of control.
The injured victims were evacuated to Kantagora General Hospital for immediate medical attention, while the dead victims were deposited in the same hospital’s morgue.
The statement added that FRSC Marshal Dauda Biu once again warned drivers of trailers and other transport vehicles to desist from transporting passengers in their vehicles due to the danger they pose to the lives of these passengers and other road users.
