Tinubu and Navy vow to address disruption of academic activities at universities
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has vowed to address the causes of constant disruption of academic activities in universities across the country.
Speaking at the second convocation ceremony of the Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN) in Ibusa, Delta State, the President, who was represented by the Director-General of Education, Stella Ogochukwu, Federal Ministry of Education, reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to welfare. Meanwhile, Chief of Naval Staff. Vice Admiral Ikechukwu Ogara thanked the patrons of the Navy for his significant contribution to the development of the Navy.
“I am pleased that you are investing in our country’s future by investing in education,” he said, praising the leadership team for its role in developing the next generation of leaders.
The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Omaji, said respect for integrity and diligence are guiding principles at ADUN.
Earlier, during his convocation lecture, Chairman of the House Committee on Naval Affairs Yusuf Gaghdi called on governments at all levels to involve youth in decision-making and urged convocation students to be resilient.
He further called on governments at all levels to engage in political and other activities to ensure creativity is harnessed and to prevent new ENDSARS.
In his concluding speech on the theme “Be the Solution,” Victor Bodanlin, the recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award, urged his colleagues to challenge themselves externally to be the solution.
“Graduates, I want you to know that there are challenges in the world, that the time for complaining is over, and that it is time to solve society’s problems,” he said.
