Tinubu agrees to DICON bill
President Bola Tinubu has given his assent to the Defense Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Bill 2023.
The Defense Industries Corporation of Nigeria was established on August 1, 1964 by an Act of Parliament and amended by Chapter 94 of the Act of Federation of 2004 as the DICON Act.
The Nigeria Defense Industries Corporation Act, 2023 repeals the previous Nigeria Defense Industries Corporation Act and authorizes the Nigeria Defense Industries Corporation to operate, maintain and manage subsidiaries and ordnance factories to manufacture, store and dispose of ordnance. . and attached stores and materials.
The new law also establishes the Defense Industrial Technology Research and Development Institute (DITRDI), which will combine and leverage interdisciplinary research from multiple military research institutes to develop sophisticated scientific and The purpose is to build a base technology infrastructure.
