A member of the board of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) was on Wednesday night brutally beaten up by hoodlums who invaded the agency’s office in Obairu, Akure North Local Council Area of the state.

The Communications Secretary, Kehinde Akinrotoyi, popularly known in state political circles as Bonsu Aketi, was attacked when suspected hoodlums invaded the premises of OSOPADEC and disrupted scholarships and bursary programmes.

Akinrotoyi’s vehicle was also vandalized by hoodlums who accused him of profiting from the authorities despite not being from the mandated area.

The incident lasted several hours, with staff and students scrambling for safety as gunshots rattled the campus.

According to witnesses at the scene of the incident, thugs entered the premises and opened fire, causing the program to be halted.

A witness who identified himself as Gbenga said the scholarship and bursary beneficiaries were already seated when the hoodlums broke into the premises.
