Three arrested for disturbing public peace in Lagos

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) arrested three suspects in Shasha area, Akowonjo, Lagos, for organizing a street carnival, in complete disregard of existing laws regulating the use of loudspeakers in public in Lagos State.

The suspects identified as 43-year-old Julius Osimirin, 16-year-old Isiaka Kabiru and 42-year-old Ajewole Ajugba were arrested at about 12:23pm at Abatti Street, Shasha, where they were preparing the stage for their carnival.

The arrest follows directives from the Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, to the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, to bring to justice anyone found trying to contravene these laws.

CP Fayoade had already met with the carnival organizers, advising them on the need to obtain a hall for their carnival and avoid closing streets or disturbing public peace.

The suspects will be indicted at the end of the investigation.
