The perfect recovery process for educational rejuvenation for Yobe – Ambassador of Switzerland
The Ambassador of Switzerland to Nigeria, Mr. Nicholas Lang, has said that Yobe State government’s investment in education aimed at revitalizing the education sector is the best recovery process for the state.
The Swiss Ambassador made the remarks during a courtesy visit to Governor Mai Mala Buni in Abuja on Thursday, according to a statement by the Director General of Press and Media Mamman Mohammed.
The diplomat pointed out that without quality education, there can be no development or progress of any nation, society or nation.
“I am happy to learn that the Yobe State Government is committed to training and retraining of teachers as part of the process of revitalizing basic education in the state,” he said.
The Ambassador pledged the Swiss government’s continued support to the northeastern states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe.
Lang said the focus will be on education, agriculture and health care delivery to support the Yobe State government and residents.
Governor Buni informed the ambassador that all areas displaced by the insurgency have been resettled, with the exception of Marundunari area, where the state government is working with development partners to resettle.
“We provided schools, health facilities, water, roads, etc. for the smooth resettlement of communities,” he said.
The governor also emphasized the need for further support in other areas.
“Agriculture is the backbone of our people. Returnees need more support in the agricultural sector for sustainable livelihoods. Support for agriculture and infrastructure will encourage people to stay in their communities. It will not only encourage people to move, but also curb migration from rural areas to cities,” Buni said.
