The Osun State House of Assembly committee that has been investigating a series of petitions against embattled Chief Justice Oyebola Adepele-Ojo released its report on Friday.
The report was presented in plenary by Kanmi Ajibola, Chair of the House of Commons Judiciary, Human Rights, Public Affairs and Law Committee.
The commission observed “unjust suspension and victimization of officials” who were later cleared by the ICPC and released and acquitted in court, but which the CJ-constituted panel could not prosecute. said.
He listed the abnormalities discovered as follows. “The presiding judge unilaterally awarded an e-affidavit contract to a consultant without any approval or memorandum from the state government and without involvement of the Osun Inland Revenue Service (OIRS) or the government.”
“Disobedience of a court order regarding the proceeds of a bank robbery. Misappropriation and diversion of funds in a running cost account. Among other things, embezzlement of a robe allowance.”
After the presentation, the House adopted the committee’s report.
It also resolved that a certified true copy of the report, including all documents received in evidence, be made available to the Governor and transmitted to the National Judicial Council (NJC) for further action.
DAILY POST recalls that in plenary session on November 17, 2023, the House asked the committee to expedite action on investigating the petition and report to the House within seven days.
This was after the House of Representatives resolved to suspend the Chief Justice and directed Governor Ademola Adeleke to swear in the acting Chief Justice.
