Terrorists kidnap Catholic priest in Zamfara

Suspected terrorists kidnapped the parish priest of St. Raymond Damba Catholic Church, Gusau in Zamfara State, Revd. Father Mikah Suleiman.

The priest was kidnapped from his rectory in the early hours of Saturday, June 22, 2024.

The Acting Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Very. Rev. Father Nuhu Iliya, who confirmed the incident, urged Christian faithful to pray for his safe release.

“With sadness in our hearts, we write to inform the general public about the kidnapping of one of our priests, Rev. Father Mikah Suleiman. This sad event occurred in the early hours of today, Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Priest's rectory. Father Mikah is the parish priest of St. Raymond Damba Catholic Church, Gusau, Zamfara State,” the statement read.

“We invite all of Christ’s faithful and all men and women of good will to sincerely pray for his speedy and safe release.

“We likewise commend him to the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Priests, for his speedy release from the hands of his captors.”
