Terrorists flee as troops rescue 31 kidnapped victims in Sokoto

Troops of Joint Task Force Operation North West HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) have rescued 31 kidnapped persons in Sokoto State.

The Nigerian Army, in a statement released on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, said troops destroyed all terrorist hideouts after rescuing the victims.

“The resilient troops of Joint Task Force Operation North-West HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) under the command of the General Officer Commanding 8th Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto, Major General Godwin Mutkut have continued to intensify the attack and conduct a series of mop-up operations in terrorist enclaves in their areas of operations in the Northwest,” the statement said.

“In a recent demining operation conducted by OPHD troops on 21 November 2023 in Tangaza LGA of Sokoto State, liberated Alya Fulani village in Buani forest where 30 abducted persons were rescued.

“All discovered terrorist hideouts were destroyed when the terrorists abandoned their captives and fled their camps before the arrival of aggressive troops.

“The troops also proceeded to Goboro village where a kidnapped victim was rescued while the terrorists/bandits fled in disarray due to the superior firepower of the troops.”
