Tensions rise as missing Fulani leader found dead in Plateau

The body of the missing Fulani leader, Mr. Umar Ibrahim, was discovered on Wednesday in an abandoned well in Jokom community, Mangu town, Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.

Before his death, the deceased was identified as Mr Chiroma of Kumbun district in Mangu LGA of the state.
Captain Oya James, spokesperson for Operation Safe Haven, a security task force that maintains peace in the state, confirmed the incident.
According to the leadership of the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association (GAFDAN), the deceased went missing on Wednesday after leaving the hospital to buy food for his ailing wife.
The group’s state chairman, Garba Abdullahi, explained how the leader’s body was recovered.
“He visited his wife in the medical room in Mangu. Around 6pm on Wednesday, he went out to buy food for her but was unable to return.
“After four days of searching, the body was found in an abandoned well near the hospital. The body was recovered along with soldiers from Operation Safe Haven, which has been maintaining peace in the area.
“We call on all members to remain calm and never take the law into their hands. We must continue to abide by the law. Security agencies are doing their best. We call on security authorities to find and arrest the perpetrators of this dastardly act.”
