An 18-year-old boy simply identified as Mubarak has been arrested for allegedly killing his mother’s boss, Mrs. Sidikat Anuoluwapo, using a cell phone worth N80,000.
Mrs Sidikat’s lifeless body was found last week in a pool of blood inside her bedroom by one of her granddaughters who had just returned from school.
Police investigations in Ikare Akoko led to the arrest of the suspect and the victim’s cellphone was found on him, according to The Nation.
Mubarak allegedly named another suspect, 20-year-old Reliwan, as his accomplice and they took police detectives to the Similoluwa area of Agbaluku Arigidi Akoko, the scene of the crime, where they demonstrated how they scaled the fence and attacked the victim.
Mubarak is the son of a housekeeper and the victim’s cleaner. Witnesses said he used to accompany his mother home to work.
His mother, Oluwasuen, was reportedly arrested.
A police source said: “The two suspects revealed that they climbed the fence and not the main gate during the afternoon.
“Having gained entry, they went straight that afternoon to the deceased’s room, where she was lying in bed after taking a shower. They confessed that they used a wooden box to break her head while the second suspect strangled her.
“The mother of one of the suspects is a housekeeper and casual cleaner of the late Mrs. Adamolekun. Sometimes she would come to work with the suspect.”
The case was transferred to the police headquarters in Akure.
