It was an emotional moment for students and teachers in Taraba State as the body of recently murdered teacher Bassi Sardauna Nukufi was buried in Jalingo, the state capital.
It would be recalled that Mr. Nukufi, a teacher at Model Secondary School, Jalingo, was recently stabbed to death by some of his students.
Following the students’ actions, the Union of Secondary School Teachers (ASUSS) was forced to suspend academic activities in secondary schools in the state.
Nukufi, who is buried in the grounds of his parents’ home in Abuja Phase II, Jalingo metropolis, was said to have been on his way home from school when the incident occurred.
Mourners, especially colleagues of the slain teacher, have ordered security forces to ensure the suspects behind the gruesome murder are found.
They also called on the government to take responsibility for the welfare of his elderly parents, wife and three children.
Dr. Ishaq Kazon, secretary of the Secondary School Teachers Union, urged the relevant authorities to extend assistance to the family, noting that the deceased teacher was the breadwinner of the family.
