Teacher, 30, is accused of instructing a 14-year-old student to send nudes via Snapchat to ‘excite her’

An Arkansas high school teacher has been accused of soliciting nude photos from her 14-year-old student via Snapchat.

Booneville Junior High School teacher Kaytlann Barnes, 30, was arrested at her Fort Smith home last week and charged with sex crimes against children.

The teacher is accused of sending sexually explicit photos of the boy via the app to a student and directing him to send some back to her.

Court records obtained by KATV reveal that Barnes sent several photos and a video “purposely exposing his sexual organs.”

She then requested a video of the student to “arouse or satisfy her sexual desires,” according to the documents.

The exchange took place over the course of two nights while each was in their respective homes, the documents state.

Barnes was charged with sexual indecency with a child; producing, directing or promoting a sexual performance by a child; illegal use of a communication device; and computer child pornography.

She was fired from her position at the school and no longer works for the Boonville Public Schools district, police confirmed.

She was detained and later released from the Logan County Detention Center on $25,000 bail on Monday.

In a statement, Logan County Sheriff Jason W. Massey said, “We thank the Arkansas State Police, Booneville Public Schools and the District Attorney’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.”
