Super Falcons beat Cape Verde in Praia to clinch ticket to WAFCON 2024

Nigeria's Super Falcons sealed their place in the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations with a hard-won 2-1 win against Cape Verde on Tuesday night.

The nine-time African champions qualified for the biennial tournament with a total of seven wins and one loss.

Cape Verde dominated the early attacks at Praia's Estadio Nacional and took the lead in the eighth minute with Ivania Moreira's goal.

The host team put more pressure on the Super Falcons, but was unable to further increase their advantage.

Super Falcons interim head coach Justin Madugu rejigged his squad after the break.

Esther Onyenezide and Esther Okoronwko replaced Peace Efih and Uchenna Kanu.

This change had a positive effect as the Super Falcons took control of the game.

Okoronfuko scored Nigeria's equalizer two minutes into the game.

Substitute Rashidat Ajibade scored the winning goal for the away team in stoppage time.
