Osun State has unveiled commuter buses that will carry civil servants, students and other residents of the state along some selected routes.
This is part of measures to alleviate the impact of the abolition of fuel subsidies.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, on behalf of Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, disclosed this at the official unveiling of the bus in Osogbo on Monday, stating that the bus will operate during the morning hours from 6:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.; Day shift buses will run from 6:45 a.m. to 9 a.m., he said. Afternoon shifts work Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
His words were, “I want to assure the residents of the state that their welfare remains the top priority of this administration.The district administration will continue to work on projects and policies that will bring smiles to the faces of the residents.
“I commend our civil servants for their resilience and dedication to their jobs despite the harsh economic realities. I assure you that this government will always prioritize their welfare.”
In his opening remarks, the Secretary of Transport, Sesan Oyedele, assured the people of the state of more buses in the coming days, while describing the Adeleke administration as a worker-friendly administration.
“Passengers will be charged a token fee every time they disembark for the operation and maintenance of the bus,” Oyedele added.
The five bus routes in Osogbo are: Dada Estate – Capital – Okefia – Olaiya, ending at Abele (Secretariat).
The second bus will take you via Stadium Roundabout – Aetoro – Old Garage – Olaiya and will end at Abele (Secretariat).
The third bus will carry passengers from Oja Oba-Isare-Osun-Odi Olowo-Olaiya and terminate at Abele (Secretariat).
The fourth bus will start from Owode-Ede-Abere-Ogo-Oluwa-Olaiya and terminate at the Old Garage. The fifth bus will start its journey from Okinni-LAMECO-Dere-Yesu Sir-East Bypass and will end at Abele (Secretariat)).
