Space science and technology are critical to the New Hope agenda – Minister Nnaji
The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has said space, science and technology are critical to achieving the “New Hope” agenda of the President Bola Tinubu administration.
Nnaji said this during his maiden visit and facility tour of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) in Abuja.
The minister said space agencies have a strategic role in leveraging space, science and technology for national development and technological advancement.
He said the great strides made by the space agency resonated both at home and in the diaspora, positioning the country as a major player in space exploration and research.
“The current administration of New Hope for Nigerians is certain to strengthen the agency’s contribution to food security, security of lives and property, wealth creation and employment provision.
“Space is the ultimate platform for technological advancement, and no nation can develop beyond space capabilities and space exploration.
“The space program is not just a matter of national pride, it is an important indicator of Nigeria’s place in the global and economic equation,” he said.
He further said that the visit to the space agency was to ensure that he received important information for decision-making towards achieving the goals set.
The Minister praised the Agency’s leadership for the successes recorded to date and its proactive efforts towards commercializing research findings and raising alternative funding through public-private partnerships.
Earlier, NASRDA Director-General Dr. Khalil Shaba praised the Minister, saying the visit was a testament to the importance placed on the strategic role of science, innovation and technology in shaping the future. evaluated.
Minister Shaba acknowledged the Minister’s visionary leadership style, adding that NASRDA will make full use of the Minister’s wealth of expertise and passion to advance Nigeria’s space program.
However, he assured that the agency will consistently strive to push the boundaries of space exploration and satellite technology for the betterment of the nation.
