South East governors declare support for Benjamin Kaluu’s South East Peace Project | Headline News



Governors of the southeastern states have emphasized the centrality of peace to the region's economic development and progress. This declaration coincided with the announcement of the Project for Peace in the South East (PISE-P) on December 29, 2023 in Bende Local Government Area of ​​Abia State. My lord. The South East governors, represented by Imo State Governor and Chairman of the South East Governors Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, expressed their commitment to promoting peace in the region.

Governor Uzodinma also commended Deputy Speaker Kalu for his efforts and stressed the urgency of restoring peace amid widespread insecurity.

He said: “The events of 2021 to date have caused immense anxiety in the region. That's it.

“Governors of the South East region working with the Ohaneze held a security summit in Owerri and resolved to do everything possible to bring peace to the South East and stop the spread of insecurity in the region. It was done.

“As a result, my brother and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, the Rt. Benjamin Carew, initiated this peace project as part of the program to commemorate his return home.

“This is a welcome idea and should be praised. Anything that brings peace to the South East is welcome. I commend him for this great idea and his efforts. We, the South East Governors too I praise him.”

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State read out the Bende Peace Declaration, reinforcing the region’s commitment to peace as a catalyst for economic growth and progress. This declaration expresses our collective aspirations for peace, prosperity and confidence in building a bright future for the South East.
