The Randburg Magistrates’ Court in Johannesburg on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, sentenced the Orlando Pirates player to three years in prison for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The sentence is suspended for up to five years if he is not found to have committed such an offense during the period of suspension.
She was also ordered to pay a non-governmental organization, People Opposing Women Abuse (POWA), a fine of R100 000, of which R50 000 is to be paid immediately (today), and restitution within minutes.
His girlfriend at the time filed a complaint with the Midrand Police in September 2020, which led to his arrest and release on a bail of R2000.
Lorch was arrested on 07 September 2020, following an incident at his residence in Midrand, on 06 September 2020.

When he arrived, an argument broke out and Lorch became violent and began choking him, beating him while dragging him up and down. He called for help, and his friend rushed to his aid.
The State’s Attorney, Ms. Michele Hart argued that the medical evidence corroborated the evidence of the complainant.
Ms Hart said: “The accused did not have any injuries to indicate that he was the antagonist.”
“The accused and his witness did not perform well in court as they were found to be unreliable witnesses,”
