Soldiers occupy Kogi REC residence after attack


The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed studies of an attack on the residence of INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Gabriel Longpet.

Lokoja Police Commissioner Besland Onuoha confirmed the attack to reporters on Friday, calling it a “very unfortunate and wicked” incident.

He stated the attackers arrived at REC’s condo round 3am on Friday, however have been met with stiff resistance from safety guards.

“The better part is that the thugs’ heinous act didn’t succeed because the police bravely repulsed their attack and burnt the car they have been touring in.

“Soldiers are at the moment stationed on the house alongside our personal personnel to watch and guarantee safety.

“Again, all intersections around the house and INEC office are guarded by heavily armed soldiers and police officers to forestall any eventuality,” he stated.
