Sokoto Governor: Governor Aliyu reacts to Court of Appeal judgment affirming his election

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has praised the Court of Appeal’s decision affirming his election.

Aliyu spokesperson Malam Abubakar Bawa said in a statement that the verdict was a testament to Nigeria’s impartial judiciary.

Aliyu attributed his victory to the will of Almighty Allah.

“We see this victory as a blessing from God and commend the judiciary for upholding truth and justice,” Aliyu said.

He urged opposition parties to work together to ensure the country’s development.

The governor assured the people of his administration’s dedication to realizing democratic dividends.

“We remain resolute in providing a conducive environment for the development of our state.

“Our commitment includes continued efforts to eliminate bandits and criminals through sustained military operations,” Aliyu stressed, calling on all stakeholders for support.

Aliyu emphasized the need for unity to achieve national transformation and appealed for the continued support of the people.

He thanked the people for their support and prayers and encouraged further prayers, suggestions and constructive criticism for the nation’s progress, while acknowledging their role in the nation’s success.

NAN reports that the Abuja Court of Appeal on Monday upheld the judgment of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, confirming Aliyu’s victory in the 2023 polls.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of the state has appealed to the Court of Appeal, dissatisfied with the decision of the gubernatorial election petition tribunal, contesting the victory of Aliyu and his deputy Alhaji Idris Gobir in the 2023 election. (South)
