Security agents will go after Nigerians with fake foreign school certificates

The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, has said security agents will go after Nigerians with fake school certificates from foreign countries.

In an interview with Channels TV, Mamman said anyone possessing a fake certificate is a criminal and not a victim.

“I have no sympathy for these people. Instead, they are part of the criminal chain that should be arrested”, said the minister firmly. If it goes along the line, we can track that there are already people in the system. For example, if a particular institution or operator has been operating for, say, the last 10 years, we will check whether we can obtain records of Nigerians who attended that institution.

Once we do this, they will become criminals and you will know that there is no deadline for criminality. We will track them. As long as we can get our hands on their institutions and they are here with us, security agencies will certainly go after them because they are criminals,” Mamman said when asked what would be done to Nigerians with fake foreign certificates already inside the country. the system.

The minister also said that the Federal Government would suspend degree certificates from more countries such as Uganda, Kenya and the Republic of Niger.

“We are not just going to stop at Benin and Togo. We will extend the dragnet to countries like Uganda, Kenya and even Niger, where such institutions have been created.”

An undercover journalist detailed how he obtained a degree from a university in the Republic of Benin in less than two months and was in fact posted to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The Federal Government immediately suspended the accreditation of certificates from the two Francophone West African countries and launched an investigation that the minister said should report within three months.
