Rivers Gubar: Court of Appeal sets judgment on November 28th

The Abuja-based Court of Appeal is scheduled to rule on the Rivers State gubernatorial election on Tuesday.

Rivers State Governor Sim Hubala’s camp had earlier claimed that former Governor Nyesom Wike intended to use the courts to remove him.

The former governor and current Federal Capital Territory Minister is said to be open to supporting candidates from other parties in new elections.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) had appealed against the decision of the Governorship Election Tribunal which upheld the selection of Hubala of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on a petition by its candidate Patrick Tony Cole.

In its ruling, a three-member panel of the court dismissed the motion as lacking merit, citing Tony Cole’s lack of authority to independently challenge Governor Tomihara’s victory without a political party.
