Rivers Chairman calls on IGP to take action on assassination attempt charges

The Rivers State House of Assembly factional chairman, Mr. Edison Ehie (PDP-Ahoada 11), has called on the Inspector General of Police to urgently address the alleged misconduct of some police officers deployed to Rivers.

The chairman made the appeal on Monday while addressing reporters on the alleged intrusion by suspected assassins into his home in Port Harcourt.

He said that at 11pm on Sunday, several men accompanied by armed police forcefully entered his residence and fired sporadically in an attempt to kill him and his family.

He claimed that he had been under attack since October 30, when he openly supported Governor Siminalai Hubala, whom some members of Congress had tried to unjustly remove from office.

“I and my family were suddenly attacked and threatened, especially after he was elected as the 10th Speaker of the House of Representatives, because we supported the governor and said that evil cannot reign over good in this state.” “I was exposed,” he said.

Ehie also commended the people of the state for the consideration he and his family showed when news of the attempt on his life became public.

However, he reaffirmed his support for Governor Nunohara.

However, the Rivers Police Commissioner, Mr Olatunji Disu, dismissed the chairman’s claims.
